Keeping it Simple Stupid (KISS) with Excel 2003*

This tutorial is for teachers with no familiarity with Excel.

Teachers already familiar with Excel should consider these templates: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/templates/CT102754731033.aspx
 

1. Create a sheet with this information:

2. Create scores for your students

3. Go to the "qAVG" cell on  row 2 and enter the average formula for the quiz range (E2:I2). See image.


 

4. Fill-down your average formula to automatically compute for the rest of your students. See image.

5. Fill-down for your test scores.

6. Compute the cumulative average grade based on: Quizzes=25%, Tests=30%, CP=30% and Project=15%) Note the call locations column/row.

7. Fill-down the average.

8. Right Click on the bottom tab (Sheet1) and rename to "Period 1".

9. Save the file as Your Name Grade Book.xls

10. Mail this file to yourself as an attachment and keep for next class.

 

*You can use this tutorial with other versions of Excel.
