The WebQuest - An inquiry-based activity using web sources for information

What is it? Common Elements:

  1. Structure: Tasks that guide students to a product/presentation.
  2. Setting: Group assignment, collaboration with others (inside and out of school) with various roles.
  3. Research: Teacher selected links (in order to save time and provide quality sources).
  4. Analysis, Problem-solving
  5. Evaluation: Rubric – product content & presentation.
  6. Student reflection: think of themselves as learners in the process.

Think of the webquest as a "quorum concept". If it meets 4 of the 6 criteria, you could call it a webquest.

Activity: Take a look at some samples.

Step 1. Look at three from this site: http://www.zunal.com/index-matrix.php?Curriculum=110&Grade=104

Step 2. Choose, by consensus, one you liked the most.

Step 3. Evaluate the webquest using this rubric.  Give it a score.

Step 4. Present your webquest and evaluation to the class.
